The fictitious character Olivertwist was born into positive poverty. As Dickens writes It remained amatter of consider sufficient doubt whether the pip-squeak would survive to bearany name at all. Charles Dickens had archetypal hand experience ofpoverty his parents were imprisoned for a year for cosmos offenders ofthe poor laws- they hadnt enough money to support their family andgot into debt, which they couldnt pay. So Charles spent near of histime walking around the dirty back streets of London, where hewitnessed a prominent deal of poor pile who had been reduced tocrimi nals, prostitutes and beggars who lived surrounded by poverty, disease and abandoned children whose parents were either dead or nonable to look after their offspring financially. The vast division in community of lower and upper classes influenced Dickens to write to tellother people what the conditions for the poor were really like. He hadto be subtle he didnt exigency to alienate his upper class audience. Sohe wrote a novel, revolving around memorable characters and places toentertain his audience. Dickens knew that people learnt more and weremore ordain to listen whilst being entertained, so he wrote historyas entertainment. Dickens audience consisted of two groups thesub-literate who were the poor that attended his readings as theycouldnt read, and the... ...e white waist coatgentleman was right or not, I should perhaps mar the interest group of thisnarrative (supposing it to possess any at all), if I ventured to hintjust yet, whether the life of Oliver Twist had this violen ttermination or no. Dickens was uncertain of who Oliver was going toturn out to be until the novel was sound established. He was planningthe story as he went along, writing apiece chapter separately instead ofplanning the whole novel.Overall, Oliver Twist is one of the great novels written with a desireto send a message out to people, and a message that changed peoplesperspectives of poor life in those times, which I hope is thereason that it is remembered so well to this day. From reading thisbook I gull learnt about the circumstances of those times in a way notpossible from reading a textbook. I saw it through a childs eyes.
