Carly Beardshear Mrs. Hoxie IBSL I November 30, 2010 Motifs in gist of Darkness In the novel, essence of Darkness there are several motifs that convey the boilersuit theme of the absurdness of evil. The main three motifs that star ability find in the novel are darkness, the jungle, and the river. All of these motifs bandage together in the book to reveal the over each theme of the degeneracy that occurs in the book.
